SHEFFIELD - Nate and Nick Sipes continue to give opponents headaches.
A week after both brothers went over 200 yards rushing in a win over Johnsonburg they shredded the Sheffield defense for a combined 302 yards and five touchdowns in a 36-7 win Saturday afternoon at Sheffield.
Nate, a senior, ran 21 times for 145 yards and three scores, while Nick, a sophomore, added 20 carries for 157 yards and two touchdowns.
Curwensville outgained Sheffield 383 to 170 with all the Golden Tide yards coming on the ground.
Curwensville led 14-7 at the end of the first quarter on a 23-yard run by Nick Sipes and a 6-yard run by Nate Sipes. Cody Elms's 12-yard reception from Jeremy Borst accounted for the Sheffield score.
A 16-yard run by Nick Sipes gave the Golden Tide a 20-7 halftime lead, and runs of 3 and 8 yards by Nate Sipes in the third quarter closed out the scoring.
Nate Sipes also caught a 2-point conversion pass from Dean Swatsworth to give him 20 points on the day.
Sheffield managed just 43 rushing yards on 24 carries, while Borst was 10-for-35 passing for 127 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. He was sacked four times.
Walt Elmquist had four catches for 66 yards for the Wolverines, while Elms had three for 22.
